Final Classic Team Champions Trophy: India VS New Zealand

The final match of the Champions Trophy is almost here! Just over two weeks ago, we were gearing up for the first match, and now we're on the brink of the final showdown between India and New Zealand. Lets Preview the Final Classic Team Champions Trophy. As we all know, fantasy cricket isn't just about picking players, it’s about carefully managing your budget, considering form, and making those bold calls that can push you to the top of the leaderboard.

Currently sitting 3rd overall in Classic, I’m just 50 points above the cut-off for the top 5, so every decision counts. With the prize card top 5 at stake, here’s how I’m finalizing my team and where I'm spending my salary cap to minimize risk and maximize my chances for the final.

My Team: Strategy & Selection

1. Rachin Ravindra & Axar Patel: Must-Have Allrounders

The first two players I selected were Rachin Ravindra and Axar Patel, both of whom I believe are essential for my final team.

  • Rachin Ravindra is an opening batter and also provides key bowling overs. His versatility makes him an absolute must-have in my squad.

  • Axar Patel, with his all-round abilities, offers a solid chance for points both with the ball and bat. Batting at No. 5, he’s likely to get a good number of opportunities to contribute with the bat, while his bowling gives me extra points as well.

2. The GOATs: Kohli & Williamson

Next, I’m going with the two legends of the game, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson.

  • Kohli has been in superb form and will be looking to make a statement in this final. With his ability to chase down big totals and his knack for performing in clutch situations, he’s someone who can step up when it matters.

  • Williamson, as always, is a calm, consistent presence in the middle order. Coming off a strong performance in his previous match, I’m confident he’ll be one of New Zealand’s key players, particularly in high-pressure situations.

Both are proven match-winners and should be reliable contributors in the final.

3. The Risk – Shubman Gill

I’ll admit, Shubman Gill is a bit of a wildcard pick, but he’s someone I have a soft spot for. This young man has the potential to go big and, with his aggressive batting style, can turn the match on its head. While there's risk involved, I’m willing to take a chance on him being one of the future stars of Indian cricket. Plus, at the end of the day, sometimes a little risk can pay off in fantasy cricket!

4. Playing Safe: No Faith in Bowlers (Bronze Players)

In the bowling department, I’m opting for a safer strategy by playing all bowlers bronze. None of the bowlers have been consistently scoring high points for me, so I don’t want to take any unnecessary risks in this final match. It’s a big game, and I’d rather back all-rounders and top-order batsmen who can contribute both ways.

5. Latham vs. KL Rahul: A 50/50 Decision

The decision between Tom Latham and KL Rahul was a tough one, but I’ve decided to go with Latham. He has been more consistent in scoring runs, and while Rahul has his moments, Latham's recent form makes him the safer option. That said, it's still a 50/50 call, and this could change depending on the team announcements.

6. Pandya & Santner: Bowling and Batting Threats

Lastly, I’m backing Hardik Pandya and Mitchell Santner. Both are key all-rounders who can contribute heavily with both bat and ball. Pandya bowled plenty of overs last match and took wickets, while Santner has been crucial for New Zealand with the ball. I’ve decided to fade Phillips this time around, as he relies too much on his batting, and in my current position, I’m looking to reduce risks wherever possible.

Final Thoughts

That’s my team for the final! Of course, this could all change depending on team announcements, but for now, I’m confident in my choices. The key is balancing risks with solid, proven performers. With my current standing and only 50 points separating me from the top 5, every point matters. Let’s see how the final plays out!

Good luck to all the fantasy players out there, and may the best team win!
