AFL GameDay Squad Round 4 Review – Key Takeaways

The AFL GameDay Squad Round 4 Review is here, join us as we break down the top fantasy stars, the biggest disappointments, and the PODs that turned the round on its head

We’ll also look at how the Blokes on the Ball coaches performed across all divisions, to see who was this weeks dunce.

Let’s get stuck into the AFL GameDay Squad Round 4 Review and see who dominated, who disappointed, and who was the ultimate point-of-difference hero!

Top 3 Players of AFL GameDay Squad Round 4

Zac Guthrie goes ham and puts up a huge score

These three players delivered massive scores and rewarded coaches who backed them in:

1.     Zach Guthrie 175 – Massive game for Zach would have also been a massive POD collecting 30 disposals 23 of them being kicks to go with his insane 17 marks.

2.     Lachie Whitfield 166 – Just another 35-disposal game for Whitfield and 10 marks to put the cherry on top.

3.     Hugh McCluggage 160 – Not many would have picked McCluggage to be the top scoring midfielder for Brisbane but if you did you got rewarded with 26 disposals and 12 tackles.

3 Biggest Disappointments of the Round

Chad warner the most overhyped AFL player in the comp

Not every player lived up to expectations. These three underwhelmed fantasy coaches and left many scrambling for points:

1.     Chad Warner 52 – Big let down this week warner against weak opposition. 2 goals saved his score from being horrific but subbed out early, unsure if rested or injury concerns but regardless he was terrible.

2.     Rory Laird 66 – Laird had been super consistent with his scoring so as crows fan, I was shocked when he got subbed. Coaches who backed him in would have put him in the never again basket

3.     Trent Rivers 38 – Rivers is probably the most over hyped player in AFL fantasy sport. Every year it’s going to be his year in the midfield and being listed as a defender should be a safe play but another terrible 13 disposal game puts a line through him for the year.

3 PODs That Won Round 4

GameDay Squad is all about finding the right PODs at the right time. These three under-the-radar picks delivered huge scores and gave savvy coaches a massive edge:

Sam Darcy May be the best player in the comp

1.     Sam Darcy 155 – Darcy is a superstar! 5 goals, 21 disposal and 11 marks against Fremantle who have a very good backline. We all need to start thinking about playing Darcy especially against weaker opposition.

2.     Darcy Cameron 149 – If you played Darcy Cameron congratulations as that’s the definition of a POD pick. 22 disposals and 33 hit outs against TDK was a monster effort and started the round off perfectly for you.

3.     Jesse Hogan 148 – With no McGovern playing for West Coast Hogan feasted on a debutant and kicked 9 goals and had 10 marks. We all need to consider PODs from teams playing West Coast.

BOBS Coaches Round 4 Results

How did Blokes on the Ball’s squads perform in Round 4? Here’s where we finished across all divisions:

The Goal Practitioner

·       Starter – 56th scored 2519

·       Classic – 3rd scored 2816

·       Challenger – 2nd scored 3451

·       Champion – 9th Scored 3549

Round Summary:

So close but so far this week. Beastmode dominated me in classic and challenger but watching the final game of the round with him having Serong and myself having Brayshaw was the highlight of the round despite me ultimately falling short.

Cash Money

·       Starter – 71st scored 2511

·       Classic – 44th scored 2691

·       Challenger – 4th scored 3422

·       Champion – 6th scored 3585

Round Summary:

Similar story to my previous weeks did ok but not great in challenger and open and still really struggling in classic and starter. Missed the likes of Sam Walsh and Toby Greene which hurt as they seem quite common. Will start to focus more on team match ups when selecting forwards as West Coast and Richmond are giving up heaps of points to forwards.

Beast Mode

·       Starter – 121st scored 2456

·       Classic – 1st scored 2835

·       Challenger – 1st scored 3458

·       Champion – 41st scored 3200

Round Summary:

Very happy with this week, finishing 1st for the round in classic and challenger. Things certainly went my way with picks like Greene ad hogan going well in my challenger. I had Serong clutch up for me in the final game which was very tight. Also made the most of my salary cap in classic playing gold Dunkley and platinum Green. Hoping for more success to come.
